Ozark Mountain Daredevils at the Chesterfield Amphitheater | September 17th, 2022

Supported by Shooting Star and Missouri

Any lineup sponsored by KSHE is sure to be a good time but this past Saturday the Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Shooting Star, and Missouri was much more than that. The only thing greater than the weather was the mutually shared feeling of pure bliss by each and every member of the largest crowd I’ve ever been a part of at the Chesterfield Amphitheater – most of whom were three decades older than me.  Despite the age of the crowd the energy was more than you could ask for and I enjoyed every minute of the show as much as most any show I’ve seen all year.

The venue feels like nothing else you can find in St. Louis – a perfectly-manicured park in the middle of a nationally elite suburb, sitting atop a stocked pond and both filled and surrounded by some of the best landscaping and nature features you could imagine. Of all the venues I’ve ever been to there has never been one as welcoming, comfortable, and well-managed as the Chesterfield Amphitheater.  Twisted Teas and a taco truck?!

Austin Basler on Twitter: “For the second time in a row here I am blessed with the absolute best weather one could ever ask for. ChAmp has to be the nicest venue in St. Louis / Twitter”

The local ties of the bands involved, amplified by the production and organization of KSHE, made the show that much more special. It felt like a homecoming and I met fans who have stories of the performers from decades before I was even born. Never mind the fact that said performers were performing together 50 years ago, the show was truly enjoyable and the performers were worth so much more than the nostalgia one may expect of them. All three of the bands on the ticket were founded in and made up of members from the Show-Me State and that brought a special element to the entire show – I’d wager that nobody there would say it was anything less than a hell of a time and if you weren’t there to experience it for yourself I wish you were.
