Saint Louis FC Earns A Point In Oklahoma City

by Press Release

Saint Louis FC (1-2-1, 4 pts) ended their fourth match in a 2-2 draw with Oklahoma City Energy FC (0-1-1, 1 pt) Saturday night inside Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City opened the scoring in the 9th minute as midfielder Sebastian Dalgaard scored from near the penalty area.  Saint Louis FC was awarded a corner kick in the 21st minute that led to USL Player of the week,Vince Cicciarelli making his presence known again when he was able to get his chest on a loose ball in the box and knock it in the goal for his third of the season.

Saint Louis took the lead in the 35th minute after a Patrick Doody free kick was sent into the box and the goalkeeper who was commiting to the near post was late to react and the ball slid into the net, far post untouched.

Oklahoma City would draw even in the second half as FC Dallas loanee Coy Craft, making his debut with Energy FC, scored in the 60th minute.

“It was a very gutsy performance to go down a goal and fight back and get two in incredibly difficult conditions with the heavy wind and a narrow field.” said Head Coach Dale Schilly.  “Then to hold them off for 30 minutes after their second goal took determination, unity, and strength.  We wanted to win, but preserving the tie was huge.”

Saint Louis FC will return to action next Saturday as it hosts the Tulsa Roughnecks FC in the STLFC home opener.   In addition to the match between the lines, there will be a team poster giveaway, autographs and post game fireworks.  “We know we’re going to be playing in front of a full house and we’re looking forward to being done with this four game road swing and playing in front of some friendly fans again.” concluded Schilly.
