Vision Quest MCU Series In Development For Disney+

Paul Bettany’s Vision could soon be returning to the MCU in his own Disney+ series!

In the finale of WandaVision, we saw White Vision (the reanimated version of Vision’s body, minus his personality) have an existential conversation with Wanda’s fake Vision based on the Ship of Theseus thought experiment. He then received some measure of the Vision’s mind and memories from Wanda’s version of Vision, then flew off and hasn’t been seen again. The plot thread has just been dangling ever since.

Most thought he might make an appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but he never did.

Now a writer’s room has opened at Marvel Studios for a Vision show titled Vision Quest, where a team willl start working on the new show next week.

In the comics, Vision Quest was the title of a key storyline for the West Coast Avengers comic. Vision was kidnapped, disassembled, and had his mind erased. The Avengers rescue him, but when they put him back together, they were unable to restore his full memory or personality. In the process, he also lost his red and green colors and became all white, like the Vision we saw at the end of WandaVision. The arc also introduced a joke team called the Great Lakes Avengers, whose founder was Mister Immortal, who recently appeared in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, but that is likely just a coincidence.

In the MCU, we don’t currently have a West Coast or Great Lakes Avengers, and the story of his disassembly is a little different. The name Vision Quest could just be in name only like Age of Ulton was and took pretty much nothing from the comic of that title, but it sounds like the basic idea of the show will probably be Vision rediscovering or reshaping his identity.

Paul Bettany made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2008’s Iron Man as the voice of Tony Stark’s A.I. assistant JARVIS. His character morphed into The Vision during the events of 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, with Bettany later reprising the role for 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War. He hasn’t been seen since WandaVision.

Phase 4 ends with Wakanda Forever next month, nobody knows if Vision Quest will fall into Phase 5 or 6 yet.
