SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — With three St. Louis Cardinals expected to join Springfield on Rehab Assignments during the Sunday, August 19 game and with forecasted consistent rain and thunderstorms throughout the afternoon, the Springfield Cardinals have announced that the Sunday, August 19 game time has been changed to 12:15pm from 4:10pm. Gates will open on Sunday at 11:30am.
The adjusted game time of 12:15pm is an attempt to give RHP Adam Wainwright, RHP Carlos Martinez and INF Yairo Munoz the best chance at being able to get their Rehab Assignments in on Sunday before the rain starts.
“While we are always thinking about what is best for our fans and are constantly taking their needs into the highest consideration, one of our primary functions is to help the St. Louis Cardinals win in whatever way that we can,” said Springfield Cardinals Vice President / General Manager Dan Reiter. “As we all well know, nobody can ever fully predict the weather, but based on the advice of our specialists and what the models and forecasts are showing, we believe that moving the game time up to 12:15pm gives the best chance at allowing Adam Wainwright, Carlos Martinez and Yairo Munoz the chance to play and hopefully get back to St. Louis as quickly as they can.”
The Sunday, August 19 game will still feature the St. Louis Cardinals and Peanuts Snoopy Bobblehead Giveaway for 2,000 fans, beginning when gates open at 11:30am. The Springfield Cardinals Autograph Auction will still take place during the game, and the Sunday favorites of Hiland Dairy Ice Cream Sunday and Kids Run the Bases will also still occur as normal.
