Saint Louis FC hosted its second home game of the season and left with an exciting 3-0 win. It was the first match up between Saint Louis and the Swope Park Rangers, Saint Louis’s neighbor from across the state.
It was a night of firsts for Saint Louis all around. Schillo Tshuma, Chad Bond, and Irvin Herrera all scored their first game of the season. This is the first season with Saint Louis FC for all three players.
Saint Louis took a strong lead in the first half, scoring two goals. In the 11th minute, Richard Dixon crossed to Tshuma who scored the games first goal. In the 39th minute, Bond scored from a free kick at the top of the box. Herrera followed up with a goal in the second half by heading the ball over Swope Park’s goalkeeper.
Saint Louis goal keeper, Mark Pais kept Swope Park from scoring any goals with four saves.
Two red cards were shown during the match. Swope Park’s Oumar Ballo was ejected after picking up two yellow cards in the first half. Saint Louis’s Chad Bond also picked up two yellow cards and was ejected in the second half.
Saint Louis FC Head Coach Dale Schilly said, “We’ve really been working on going forward and staying organized. I think we have enough individual weapons and quality athletes that we’re going to create chances at different points, whether it’s through the break or combination play. So we were able score a few different ways tonight and it was a great game. ”
Saint Louis FC will play Louisville City FC on May 14.
