Fenton, Mo

FC MONTRÉAL (4-12-3) , 15 PTS

SAINT LOUIS FC (5-8-7) , 20 PTS

Saint Louis FC suffered a 5-2 loss when they traveled north to face FC Montréal on July 15th. Charles Joly netted three goals in the decisive victory for FC Montréal, despite only winning one of their previous five games. James Musa and Mike Ambersley scored goals for Saint Louis FC; both goals were unassisted. Aaron Horton made his first appearance of the season. Mark Pais had two saves to Montréal’s seven shots on goal. It was Pais’s worst performance of the year. In his defense, the STL defensive six looked absolutely lost on the pitch. But Pais’s name looks the worst.

FC Montréal wraps up a three game road trip heading into Marshall Wireless Stadium Saturday night. They suffered a 2-0 loss to the Charlotte Independence and recorded a draw against the third place Charleston Battery. They have scored one goal in their last three games after putting five on STL FC. They will play Louisville City FC on Wednesday, August 5th before heading to STL.

Saint Louis will look to capitalize early on Montréal as they did on the road with Musa scoring in the ‘5 (minute). Despite the early lead, Joly scored three unanswered to close out the first half with FC Montréal up 3-1. After a 5-2 finish, Saint Louis FC had to bounce back. They have, and will most definitely look to avenge their worst loss of the season Saturday night at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.

On their last meeting, July 15th, there was some history made. Saint Louis FC allows the most goals in franchise history against FC Montréal. Aaron Horton (STL) made his first appearance in Montréal and received a yellow card in the same half. Charles Joly (MTL) is the first player in franchise history to score three goals in a game for FC Montréal. So far this season on short rests (3 days time) Saint Louis is 2-2-0, only losing to Sporting KC and FC Montréal.

Saint Louis FC looks to start their winning ways this Saturday. They must start getting 3 pts instead of 1, especially as theyre coming down the stretch. If they can get a win at home, which has been difficult for them, then they can gain the much needed momentum to carry them into the latter part of the season. The average crowds of 4,700 fans can surely help with this.
