LAST TIME OUT: Saint Louis FC won its first-ever match in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup by defeating Des Moines Menace 2-1 in extra time on Wednesday night at the Soccer Park. After a Des Moines penalty kick tied things up late in regulation, Jermie Lynch scored seven minutes into extra time to help STL FC advance to the Open Cup 3rd Round. In its last league game on May 14, STL FC fell to Toronto FC II 2-1.

THE OPPONENT: Louisville City FC enters Sunday’s match on a good run of form, riding a three-game winning streak in which they’ve outscored their opponents by a combined score of 8-0. Louisville will be looking for its first road victory in league play this season (0-1-2). Like Saint Louis, LCFC won its U.S. Open Cup 2nd Round match on Wednesday night.

THE SERIES: Sunday’s game will be the second of four meetings between Saint Louis and Louisville this season. The Eastern Conference rivals kicked off the 2015 USL campaign on March 28, with LCFC prevailing by a 2-0 scoreline at Slugger Field. The teams meet again on May 30 in Louisville.

BUSY STRETCH: It’s been a busy month of May for Saint Louis FC, as the team will have played six games in a three-week span when the calendar flips to June. STL FC will continue a five-game homestand when it hosts Minnesota United FC in U.S. Open Cup action on Wednesday night.
