The books have done it, we as fans have always been dreaming and asking for it. Well, it looks like the stars are in line and our wishes have been granted: an untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi film is in the works!
It’s no surprise really once Disney purchased Lucasfilm and all the rights to Star Wars back in 2012 that we’re seeing, literally, a Star Wars film hitting the big screen or silver screen every single year for the last 5 years, and apparently for the next decade since the Sequel Trilogy (Episode’s VII, VIII and IX) will be released every other year with a Star Wars Anthology film released in between the Sequel films.
Well folks, we can now add the upcoming untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi film to that roster. While much hasn’t been released yet about the development state it is currently in, it is said that Stephen Daldry is in talks to direct the film and that Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan in the Prequel Trilogy, is heavily campaigning to continue portraying the wisened Jedi Master.
It is unclear what part of Obi-Wan’s lifetime will be used, however thanks to various authors and comic writers there is plenty source material that Disney can use to jump start the film (if Disney even wants to acknowledge it, but they probably won’t).
