The MLB will consider returning to the days where players wear their team uniforms for the All-Star Game like they did from 1933 to 2019.
They have had ASG jerseys for awhile now, but they didn’t wear them in the actual game until 2021. There wasn’t an ASG in 2020 with the ‘pandemic’ and after that the MLB had a new uniform deal with Nike and Fanatics and they started wearing the league specific designs.
“I’m aware of the sentiment on this issue,” MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said. “I think where my head is on it, it’s something we’re going to have a conversation about coming out of the All-Star Game. We’ve got a lot of uniform things going on. And, obviously, the conversations have to involve the players first and foremost but Nike, some of our partners. But I am aware of the sentiment, and I do know why people kind of like that tradition.”
MLB and Nike have been criticized a lot for club uniforms this year and said in May that the 2025 club uniforms will have larger lettering on the back of jerseys and individual pant customization.
