“Borg vs. McEnroe” Review

by Mitchel Garcia

I finally got to watch the film, “Borg vs. McEnroe”, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I really loved the score, cinematography, and the directing by Janus Metz.

All the performances were great especially from the two leads, Sverrir Gudnason and Shia LaBeouf, with Shia LaBeouf giving my favorite perfomance of his career so far and honestly now one of my favorite performances in any film of recent years, he is just flat out incredible as John McEnroe in this film.

My main problem with with the film is that, the build up to the actual match between McEnroe and Borg is a bit of a slow drag and made the film feel longer than it actually was, but I was still interested with what the film was giving me, so I wasn’t fully taken out of the film.

Overall I really did enjoy this one and do recommend you check it out if you are a tennis fan, or also just a fan of films based on true events.
