Swedish occult metal group Ghost and their fans refer to the band’s live performances as “rituals,” and their live performance was nothing short of that. Their sold-out show at Peabody Opera House in St. Louis on May 25th was full of mystique, painted faces, and shockingly melodic music.
On the heels of their newest release titled Prequelle set to release on June 1st, their 2018 tour features a line-up that’s as simple as it gets: Ghost was the only band on the ticket (and the only band that needed to be on the ticket).
Their “new” vocalist, Cardinal Copia, and his Nameless Ghouls took the stage to the song titled “Ashes.” This song was the first of 24, equaling out to over 2 and a half hours of music. The show was divided into two acts and ended with encore “Monstrance Clock.”
Giving fans exactly what they’d hoped for when buying their tickets, Ghost was perfectly-timed, charismatic, and full of mystique. The Nameless Ghouls stole the show in my humble opinion, as their facelessness and ambiguity not only sells the image of the band, but their talent and familiarity with their instruments made it a night of prominent musicianship.
