“The Revivalists return with their fifth full-length album, promising more of their spicy gumbo of horn-accented alt-rock, blues, folk and gospel. The New Orleans-based band offers three very different takes on their sound, with the driving anthem ‘Kid,’ the folky ‘Down in the Dirt’ and the political protest tune ‘The Long Con.’ – Associated Press
“The Revivalists focus on the positive on new single ‘Kid’” [with] the feeling that in this cluttered world, we must block out all the distractions to find our most authentic self.” – PEOPLE
“A high energy, seamless blend of soulful, horn-abetted rock and roll…inching closer to pop superstardom…” – Relix
“The Revivalists’ sound covers a lot of ground and harkens back to many of their diverse influences…but they are constantly moving forward.” – Grammy.com
“…delivers more of the high-energy, horn-drenched rock ‘n’ roll that is their unwavering trademark…” – Classic Rock
“[On Pour It Out Into The Night,”] The Revivalists are in fine form as their catchy tunes about living in the moment ring out like glossy slices of sunshine.” – Glide
“In lead singer/co-songwriter David Shaw, the group features a frontman with soulful pipes that make anything he sings alluring. From peppy folk (“Wait for the Sun”) and Dire Straits-styled story songs (“Down in the Dirt”) to sing-along indie rock (“Good Old Days”), torchy Elton John-inspired piano ballads (“Say Goodbye”), and thudding hard rock riffage (“The Long Con”), they hit plenty of stylistic bases. As co-writers, Shaw and guitarist Zack Feinberg nail enough catchy choruses to keep the music bubbling.” – American Songwriter
“‘Down In The Dirt’ is a dusty and driving effort, centering on a rumbling acoustic riff and a soulful vocal performance from lead singer David Shaw. As the whole band joins, they lock into an irresistible groove, pulling together shades of sun-dappled soul, swelling gospel harmonies, and bluesy Americana, all building to a fervent climax. Meanwhile, the track’s lyrics reckon with family and faith, painting portraits of the sinful and sacred.” – Under The Radar
“[‘The Long Con’ is an] urgent, highly chantable call-to-arms – a bracing dose of soul-charged alt rock with heavy, bluesy bite and a socially astute heart.” – LouderSound

June 2, 2023 – Chart-topping rock band The Revivalists have released their brand-new studio album Pour It Out Into The Night today via Concord Records – PRESS HERE to listen. The record features #1 Triple A/Top 3 Alternative hit “Kid,” which the band recently performed on NBC’s TODAY with Hoda & Jenna – check out the performance here.
Showcasing David Shaw and Zack Feinberg as a formidable songwriting duo, and the band’s renowned musicianship, Pour It Out Into The Night is a life-affirming album. Offering an unburdening and an appreciation for living in the moment, the new music was fueled by lessons in gratitude and life realizations that came from personal experiences over the past few years as the world came to a standstill. As band members became fathers for the first time, got married, and navigated the challenges of lockdown, the things that truly matter in life came into sharp focus, and they brought that clarity of perspective into the creative process. This is the band’s fifth studio album and their most self-guided one yet, produced by GRAMMY Award-winning producer Rich Costey [Muse, Foster the People, Death Cab for Cutie] with co-production from David, Zack, and the rest of the band.
“I want these songs to help people feel peace at the end of the day because we are all in this together. We all go through things at different times in our lives. I was certainly going through some things, and was thinking a lot about everyone going through something when I was writing. I hope that the album makes people feel a nostalgic hopefulness that is rooted in living in your truth and living for who you are and what you’re about,” shares David Shaw about the album.
On the hopeful and cathartic hit lead single “Kid,” piano peeks through bright acoustic guitar with an infectious melody and intricate layers of the band’s distinctive instrumentation powering a euphoric chantable chorus about self-belief and “living for the spirit.” Stand out track “Good Old Days” – about recognizing the beautiful, fleeting moments in life as they are happening – builds towards a breezy refrain punctuated by rapturous horns, a shuffling rhythm, and a soulful group harmony.
The propulsive, frenetic instrumentation of “Don’t Look Back” pulls sonic inspiration from front man David Shaw’s early punk-rock days and reflects the urgency of the song’s message of perseverance and moving forward. A gospel-style chant gives way to a punchy groove on the politically charged “The Long Con” which acknowledges the deep divisions in our country with the hope that we can hold onto the power of love. The mini-family epic “Down In The Dirt” features a stark, driving guitar line, a rootsy melody, and warm melodic vocal harmonies. Between sparse keyboard murmurs, “Only You” is a confessional tune David wrote when he was in a tough place mentally, spiritually, and physically. On the pensive and powerful “Alive,” horns swoon in between skyscraping piano. Title track “Pour It Out Into The Night” seeing dusty acoustic guitar and warm strings break into what feels like a sunrise, a reminder that all is not lost.
The band is currently on the road and gearing up for festival dates including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Bumbershoot, and more, as well as co-headline tours with The Head and The Heart and Band of Horses, beginning June 30th. Tickets are on sale now at www.therevivalists.com.
