The St. Louis Ambush kick off their tenth season Friday evening at 5:05 p.m. CT at the Family Arena when they clash with the cross-state rival Kansas City Comets. The contest is the season opener for both teams and also the first game in the Major Arena Soccer League for the 2022-23 season.
The Ambush-Comets rivalry is one of the most intense in the MASL. Both teams occupy opposite ends of the state of Missouri. They play in the same division. Due to the relatively close proximity, fans of both teams regularly visit the opposing arenas to cheer their teams on. Over the years, numerous players have spent time playing for both teams. The Ambush and Comets battled six times last season, with each team prevailing three times. They are also slated to meet six times during the 2022-23 regular season.
Friday’s duel is the first of two games in a home-and-home opening weekend series. Following Friday’s fracas at the Family Arena, the two teams square off at the Cable-Dahmer Arena in Independence Saturday at 6:05 p.m. CT.
The first 1500 fans through the doors on Friday will receive a Black Friday Ambush tee shirt and the first 2000 fans will receive a 2022-23 magnet schedule.
Following this weekend’s series, the Ambush will be back in action Saturday, December 10 when they visit the Milwaukee Wave. The next Ambush home game will be Sunday, December 11, when the Baltimore Blast invade the Family Arena for a 4:05 p.m. CST match. All Ambush games are available for webcast at twitch.com.
Tickets for all Ambush home games are available from the Family Arena box office and ticketmaster.com. For season or group tickets, call the Ambush office at 636-477-6363.
