by St. Louis Ambush

The St. Louis Ambush have signed two draft picks, the team announced today. Goalkeeper Mark Baker and forward Brodie Steigerwald were each inked to three-year deals. Per league and team policies, no further details of the contracts were disclosed. Baker and Steigerwald were drafted by the Ambush at the Major Arena Soccer League’s 2022 Pro Player Combine Draft, held October 22, 2022 at the Statler Hotel in Dallas, Texas.

Mark Baker was born in New Jersey and grew up in Mooresville, North Carolina. He was a three-year varsity letterman at Mooresville Senior High School and was a two-year starting goalkeeper at the collegiate club level. Mark played semi-pro soccer for Queen City FC (UPSL) in Charlotte, North Carolina and enjoys coaching young kids to help foster their love of the game at a young age like he did at the age of four.

Brodie Steigerwald is a native of Aurora, Indiana. He discovered the game at the age of six and played youth soccer at the club level. His prep career was at St. Henry District High School in Erlanger, Kentucky. His collegiate career was split between Northern Kentucky University and the University of Rio Grande. He has played at the semi-pro and professional levels, including stops with the Kitsap Pumas (NPSL), Olympic Force (PASL/WISL) and Vestri FC in Iceland.

Ambush Co-owner, GM and Head Coach Jeff Locker said, “During this off-season, we have worked to solidify our roster with a mix of veterans who can help us now and prospects who we can develop into tomorrow’s stars. Mark and Brodie fit in well with our current mix and we are excited to see their future success.”

The upcoming 2022-23 season is the tenth for the Ambush. Their home opener is slated for Black Friday, November 25, 2022 at 5:05 p.m. CT at The Family Arena in St. Charles. It is the first of a two-game series against the Kansas City Comets to open the MASL season. The Comets host the second game the next night, November 25, at Cable-Dahmer Arena in Independence.
