Ambush Host Florida In First Playoff Game Friday

by St. Louis Ambush

Playoff soccer returns to Axius Field at The Family Arena when the St. Louis Ambush host the Florida Tropics in game one of the MASL Ron Newman Cup quarterfinals this Friday, April 8 at 7:35 p.m. CDT.

The Ambush earned seventh seed out of eight teams in the playoff bracket with a regular season record of 10-12-2. Florida, the East Division regular season champions, are seeded second and finished with an 18-3-2 record.

Despite their record, the Ambush peaked at the end of the regular season, winning three of their last five games, including back-to-back victories over the Central Division Champion Kansas City Comets last weekend.

As the champions of the East Division, Florida completed a superb regular season, but lost three of their last five matches. The Ambush are hoping to defy the odds again and score an upset in the first round of the playoffs.

Following Friday’s contest at The Family Arena, the two teams travel to Lakeland, Florida where the Tropics will host the Ambush in the second game Sunday, April 10 at 2:05 p.m. CDT at the RP Funding Center. If the series is tied after the second game, there will be a brief intermission, followed by an additional Extra Time Period of 15 minutes, which will be treated as an entirely new game. New lineups will be submitted just like the start of a new game. If tied after the Extra Time Period, then additional sudden death overtime periods will be played until a winner is determined.

Tickets for Friday’s playoff opener at The Family Arena are now on sale at The Family Arena box office and at ticketmaster.com. Fans can stay current on all Ambush news by visiting the team’s official website, stlambush.com and on social media outlets.
