The St. Louis Ambush host the Dallas Sidekicks this Sunday, February 27 at 3:05 p.m. CST at Axius Field at The Family Arena.
The Ambush (5-9-2) come into Sunday’s game hungry for a win as they are trying to break a six-game losing streak, while Dallas (8-7-0) is hoping to build on their three-game winning streak. Sunday’s contest is the fifth and final meeting between the Ambush and Sidekicks slated for the 2021-22 regular season. Dallas holds a 3-1 advantage in the season series, having won the most recent duel between the two teams, an 11-6 triumph on Presidents’ Day in Texas.
St. Louis’ offense is led by Mohamed Ndiaye, who leads the team in points (36), goals (17) and assists (19). He enters the weekend leading the league in the assists category. In his last three games, Ndiaye has tallied seven goals and three assists. JT Thomas is second on the Ambush in points with 23 and in goals with 16. He is particularly dangerous on the power play and leads the MASL in power play goals with eight. Other offensive threats for St. Louis are Vadim Cojocov with 12 goals and Robert Kristo, who has three goals and three assists in his last three appearances.
For the Sidekicks, Luiz Morales leads the team in points (25) and goals (18). He has four goals and an assist in his last three games. Jamie Lovegrove is second on the team in points (24, plus one with San Diego before being traded to the Sidekicks) and in goals (13). He had a five-point game (one goal, four assists) against the Ambush on Monday. On the defense for the Sidekicks, St. Louis native Mike Jones enters the weekend tied for the league lead in blocked opponent shots with 24.
For interim head coach Jeff Locker and his players, all games going forward have a sense of urgency as the team enters the weekend in the eighth of eight playoff berths with seven games left on the regular season schedule after Sunday.
Sunday’s match is the first of four consecutive home games for the Ambush, who will host the Milwaukee Wave on Friday, March 4 at 7:35 p.m. CST, followed by a visit from the Florida Tropics on March 6 and the Wave again on March 18.
