St. Louis Ambush goalkeeper Paulo Nascimento has secured a P-1 Visa that will permit him to continue with the club through the 2024-25 season, the team announced today. The length of the Visa matches a contract extension announced by the club in July.
Nascimento, who prefers to be known simply as Paulo, has spent the last three seasons with the Ambush. He compiled a 21-39 career record with a 6.77 goals against average and a .661 save percentage in 60 games played. He has become known for his durability and athleticism in goal. He has earned All-MASL Honorable Mention honors each of the last two seasons and participated in the MASL All-Star Game on December 5 in Independence.
Paulo is a native of Natal, a city in the state of Rio Grande do Norte in northeastern Brazil. He came to the Ambush with over ten years’ professional futsal experience.
Ambush General Manager Jeff Locker said, “We continue to secure the future of our franchise by signing our top talent to long-term deals. Paulo has been and continues to be in the upper echelon of MASL goalkeepers. Obtaining his Visa was the next step in the process of the contract extension we announced in July and I couldn’t be happier to have him as part of the Ambush family for the next five years.”
The Ambush will kick off the 2021 season in January with road games in Florida (January 2 and 3) and Dallas (January 9). Their home opener is slated for Saturday, January 16 when the Ambush welcome the Kansas City Comets to the Family Arena for a 7:05 p.m. CT duel. Tickets are available at the Family Arena box office or online at ticketmaster.com.
