ST. LOUIS AMBUSH SIGN JT THOMAS TO THREE-YEAR DEAL

by St. Louis Ambush

The St. Louis Ambush have inked their top scorer to a three-year deal, the team announced today. The agreement will keep Thomas in an Ambush uniform through the 2022-23 season. Per league and team policies, no further details of the deal were disclosed.

The Doncaster, England native honed his indoor game as a member of the Ambush reserve squad for the 2016-17 season before joining the active roster for 2017-18. In his first two seasons with the team, JT appeared in 28 games and posted 16 goals and six assists. The 2019-20 season was his breakout season as Thomas appeared in all 21 Ambush games while leading the team in points (34), goals (25) and game winning goals (two).

Ambush Head Coach Hewerton said, “I am excited to announce that JT signed with the Ambush for the next three years. It makes me proud to watch his development as a player and team leader. Moving his position to second forward helped for his best season in his career so far. He is a great finisher and brings a lot of energy offensively and defensively.”

“There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes that we see, that the fans don’t,” Thomas said. “Shelly and Jeff (Ambush owners) care about the progress and future of this team. I am excited to be a part of that plan.”

On playing under Hewerton and playing for the Ambush, Thomas said, “Hewerton is my mentor. He was a successful player in my position. I feel it would be hard to find any better way to develop as a player. I believe the best teams try to keep a core group of players together. I want to create that with the guys here. We all recognize what a great opportunity it is to play for this team and this city.”

Ambush co-owner and CEO Shelly Clark praised Thomas’ work ethic and dedication to the team saying, “JT is a very dedicated player. This past season, it was common to see him at practice before most of the rest of the team. He put in the extra work which directly impacted his ability to help the team and find personal success. We are fortunate to have him as a part of the Ambush family for seasons to come.”

The Ambush will kick off their 2020-21 season this fall. For up-to-date information during the off-season, follow the team on their official website, stlambush.com and on social media.
