The St. Louis Ambush posted a 7-6 victory over the Tacoma Stars Friday night at the Family Arena. The win improved the Ambush to 2-3 while the Stars dropped to 2-4. It was also the second straight win for the Ambush, who defeated Kansas City on December 15.
The score was knotted at two each at the end of the first quarter thanks to Tacoma goals by Nick Perera and Cory Keitz and Ambush goals by Tony Walls and JT Thomas. The second quarter would see only one tally, a power play goal by Alex Caceres to give the visitors a 3-2 lead at the halftime break.
Teams traded goals in the first minute of the third quarter when Micheal Ramos scored just 27 seconds in for Tacoma, followed by Vadim Cojocov for St. Louis at 45 seconds.
Andre Braithwaite scored the equalizer for the Ambush 39 seconds into the final stanza. Tacoma would bounce back to take a two-goal lead (6-4) on goals by Lamar Neagle and Eddie Na. That would be it, though, for the visitors as the Ambush stormed back with the next three goals as Walls and Thomas each got their second of the game to make the score 6-6 with less than seven minutes remaining in the contest.
The Ambush took the lead for the final time at 10:24 when Pablo Da Silva, shooting from well outside the arc, executed a rocket that deflected off teammate Mike Scharf and into the back of the net. The Ambush were able to hold on until the final buzzer, securing the 7-6 win.
The Ambush are back in action when the Kansas City Comets return for a New Year’s Eve matinee affair, Tuesday, December 31 at 3:05 p.m. CST. The New Year’s Eve game will include carnival games for the kids before the game and a post-game balloon drop on the field. Following the December 31 tussle, the Ambush will journey south of the border for games in Mexico on January 3 and 5.
