Ambush Offense Lacking In 6-1 Loss To Wave

by St. Louis Ambush

The St. Louis Ambush fell 6-1 to the Milwaukee Wave Sunday evening at the Family Arena. The loss dropped the Ambush to 0-3 while the Wave improved to 2-1.

The home team provided the only scoring in the first quarter when Ambush forward Duduca was knocked down by Wave goalkeeper Rafael Dias and somehow managed to tap a slow roller into the goal while on his back. Neither team found the back of the net in the second period, giving the Ambush a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Andrew Wiedebach scored the equalizer for Milwaukee nearly three minutes into the second half, followed by another by Guilherme Veiga less than three minutes later. The visitors increased the lead to 3-1 when Ian Bennett beat Ambush goalkeeper Paulo just past the seven minute mark. Milwaukee would increase their advantage to 4-1 on a restart goal by Max Ferdinand early in the final stanza. The Wave did it again later in the period on a restart when Ferdinand executed a similar strategy with success to go up 5-1. Bennett notched his second of the contest late in the game to cement the 6-1 win.

The Ambush continue their 2019-20 Major Arena Soccer League season when they host the I-70 rival Kansas City Comets this Sunday, December 15 at 3:05 p.m. CST at the Family Arena. Following Sunday’s duel, the Tacoma Stars come to town December 27, followed by a rematch with the Comets on New Year’s Eve.
