Welcome to another edition of New Artist Spotlight. This time out we will take a listen to the “Fire Sign EP” by The Cool Moonmist Mountain Band.” This electronic EP is filled with psychedelic beats and trippy sounds. It legitimately sounds as if it was the background music to a Science Fiction television show. The band is known for having a fresh take on the electronic dance music market.

The title track “Dope” is ironically well… dope. It is legitimately refreshing and despite no vocals it really does stand out. Another stand out track is “Super Automatic” that I think does lend itself greatly to being a “backtrack” in the sense that it would sound great in the background of a video. I don’t see this particular type of music to be anything more than background music. But don’t get me wrong, it does sound very good. The production value of the album is very good. The brain-child of the band Jared Sand is incredibly talented.
Rating: 7/10
