Bastille made St. Louis happier at 105.7 The Point HoHo Show

The lineup for 105.7 The Point’s November 29th HoHo Show felt like a gift of sorts, as lovelytheband joined Bastille for a night of awesome music at The Pageant.

Lovelytheband, famed by their hit song “Broken”, has been one of my favorite bands of the year thus far with their music upbeat enough to dance to. After missing them on their last go-around in St. Louis, I was happy to see Mitchy Collins and company added on as support for this show.

Taking©the stage in round Lennon-esque sunglasses, lead vocalist Collins’ humble showmanship got the audience revved up with songs like “Make You Feel Pretty” and “These Are My Friends.”

Led by vocalist Dan Smith, Bastille hit the stage right on time. The British group, known for current radio hit with Marshmello “Happier” and their own “Pompeii”, is known for their songs being sad in nature. When dissecting the lyrics, this seems quite true, but when examining the imminent dance party that happens when these Brits hit the stage with “Good Grief”, the mood in the room is anything but sad.

With Smith’s crowd interaction, including his trademark sojourn through the crowd with “Flaws”, the performer’s humble politeness is infectious. And the way Smith uniquely dances around onstage and through the crowd (although he claims he’s the World’s Worst Dancer) is equally as adoring as his interactions.

Overall, this HoHo Show has topped my list as my favorite that 105.7 The Point has put together. Both artists stirred up a happy go-lucky crowd, there to dance and sing and have a great time. But only as good of a time as the bands on the ticket seemed to have.
