The St. Louis Ambush continue preparations for their upcoming MASL season when they host the Dallas Sidekicks in a free preseason game Sunday, November 18 at 3:05 p.m. at the Family Arena in St. Charles. The exhibition match is part of the annual free Fanfest.
The event includes free activities for the family including inflatables, tattoos, sponsor displays and autographs with current and alumni players. Admission to the Fanfest, the game and parking for this special event are all free. “We appreciate the tremendous support our fans give us each year and are happy to give back with this free yearly event,” said Ambush CEO Shelly Clark.
The Sidekicks, like the Ambush, are a legendary professional indoor soccer name in a city that has an indoor soccer history dating back over 30 years. After taking the 2017-18 season off, the Sidekicks return to the MASL for 2018-19 under a new ownership group led by Michael Hitchcock, owner of the NPSL Fort Worth Vaqueros. The Ambush and Sidekicks will not meet during the 2018-19 regular season, so the November 18 contest will be the only opportunity for St. Louis area fans to see the Sidekicks live in St. Louis this year.
As both teams prepare for the regular season, coaching staffs are evaluating players daily through regular workouts, scrimmages and games like Sunday’s match. An interesting mix of veterans, prospects and newly-signed players should be on display by both teams when they hit the carpet at the Family Arena Sunday afternoon.
Here is the schedule of events for the Fanfest:
1:00 p.m.: Family Arena doors open to the public.
1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.: On-field activities including inflatables, tattoos and alumni players signing autographs.
2:15 p.m.: Players begin pre-game warmups.
3:00 p.m.: Player introductions and National Anthem performed by vocalist Dean Christopher.
3:05 p.m.: Ambush versus Sidekicks preseason exhibition match.
Postgame: Ambush players sign autographs on the field.
Following Sunday’s game, the Ambush continue tuning up for the regular season when they host the Kansas City Comets in a preseason duel next Saturday, November 24 at 6:00 p.m. at the Dellwood Recreation Center, where all tickets are only five dollars.
The Ambush kick off their 2018-19 campaign with road games on November 30 at Orlando, December 1 at Florida and December 8 at Harrisburg. The upcoming season will consist of 24 games, with all 12 home games being played at the Family Arena in St. Charles. The home opener is slated for Sunday, December 16 at 3:05 p.m. CT when the Ambush host the Kansas City Comets. Season tickets are now on sale and start as low as $150 for all 12 home games.
