Mizzou included in local four-star WR Marcus Washington’s final two potential college choices

Four-star wide receiver recruit Marcus Washington has narrowed down his list of potential schools to just two: The University of Missouri and The Ohio State University. Washington, the St. Louis native, currently attends Trinity Catholic High School and is headed into his senior season this fall. Washington previously narrowed down his list of schools to six back on May 13th, a list that included Texas, Oregon, Georgia, and Florida State. Washington is now deciding between just Mizzou and Ohio State and has stated on Twitter that he will announce his commitment on Tuesday, August 7th.

He is listed as 6’2” 193 lbs. by ESPN and has an absurd vertical on the football field. Last season, Washington hauled in 29 catches for 637 yards and 12 touchdowns. Despite being just 6’2” Washington can jump with any defender and bring the ball down. His athletic ability is insane.

Mizzou historically has struggled getting local St. Louis recruits to come play at the Zou. But back on June 6th, Barry Odom and the Mizzou Tigers were able to land local four-star offensive tackle Jack Buford from Lutheran North. Odom has hoped this would start an upward trend of St. Louis area players wanting to come play in their own backyard.

Buford and Washington are both extremely familiar with each other both on and off the field. Both their schools, Lutheran North and Trinity, have both been in the same district and both have faced off for the Class 2 District 2 Championship in each of the last two seasons, with Trinity coming out on top in 2016 and Lutheran North in 2017.

Gaining Washington’s commitment would be huge for the Tigers. Washington could become the second four-star in as many months from St. Louis to commit to Mizzou. Washington would likely be a starter right away. Mizzou has also gained the commitment from 2019 QB and four-star recruit Connor Bazelak, the 10th best ranked pocket passer in the class of 2019 by ESPN. With a potential commitment from Marcus Washington, Mizzou could potentially be building up one extraordinary offense for the future.
