It will be a busy weekend for the St. Louis Ambush as the team plays on the road in Milwaukee at 7:05 p.m. CTSaturday evening (December 16), then travels back home to host Cedar Rapids at the Family Arena on Sunday (December 17), just 20 hours (3:05 p.m. CT) after the start of Saturday’s contest.
The Ambush (0-7) are still seeking their first win, but have looked better in recent games than they did in the start of the season. In their two most recent matches, the Ambush played strong against two of the best teams in the league. On December 2, the Ambush were tied with the Baltimore Blast until the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, when the Blast scored to win the game. On December 8, the Ambush and Milwaukee Wave were tied at the end of regulation play, only to see the Wave pull out a sudden death overtime win.
It is the same Wave (7-0) team that the Ambush will challenge Saturday night at the UW-Milwaukee Panther arena. The Ambush hope to build on the progress of recent games as the mix of returning players and new additions finds ways to coalesce under the direction of player/head coach Hewerton.
When the Cedar Rapids Rampage (4-3) come to town Sunday afternoon, it will mark the return of former Ambush player Victor France, who was sent to the Rampage December 1 in the trade that saw Pablo Da Silva and Antonio Aguilar come to St. Louis.
Following this weekend’s pair of games, the Ambush will collide with the Rampage again next weekend, when they travel to the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids for a 7:35 p.m. CT contest Friday, December 22. The next Ambush home game is slated for New Year’s Eve, Sunday, December 31, when the Florida Tropics invade the Family Arena for a 2:05 p.m. matinee duel.
