The fan base reaction to the DC films has not been kind. To date, the only real two films that have had actual success is Wonder Woman and Justice League (take the latter with a grain of salt). While Suicide Squad was critically panned by both critics and fans, it technically was still a box office success financially.
However before Suicide Squad was released the talks of a potential sequel and even spin-offs was already in the works. Once the financials finally came in from Suicide Squad, DC and Warner Bros. said “What the hell, let’s go for it.” Since then, it has been confirmed that a sequel to Suicide Squad is in development; however a Joker and Harley Quinn solo film is in the works, along with with a Harley Quinn led Gotham City Sirens film too.
But that’s not all; earlier last week Margot Robbie dropped another bombshell on us that another Harley Quinn spin-off is in development as well. I haven’t seen such a character get so many potential spin-offs in such a short time. Whether it’s DC and Warner Bros. trying to regain their footing from a failed interconnected DC universe or if they’re just trying to capitalize off of a potential untapped source of material, DC and Warner Bros. are not backing down from the negative fan base. DC and Warner Bros. have an immense uphill battle to hash out quality films for their fans. And that’s being kind.
No date or other information has been revealed about this new spin-off.
