New Star Wars Trilogy Being Developed!

by Nick Stucker

As if there wasn’t enough excitement coming from Lucasfilm and Disney. Today we were hit with with a maelstrom of information about the future of Star Wars.

With The Last Jedi still have yet to hit theaters, it seems that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, and Disney, were very pleased with Rian Johnson’s work on the The Last Jedi. Today they have announced officially that Johnson, along with producer Ram Bergman, will be creating a new Star Wars trilogy that will be separate from the prequel, original and sequel trilogy and focus on a new corner of the galaxy that has not been hit on much in terms of exploration. Now what they may mean is still being kept secret, however fans are already picking apart what little information has been given and also posting what they are hoping to get from this new, blank slate of a trilogy.

Along with this slew of information, it was also announced behind the shadow of the new Star Wars trilogy that a Star Wars live-action television series was still in active development and will be exclusively on Disney’s upcoming streaming service, which is slated to hit mainstream in 2019. However, there is no set date for the live-action series; with all of the upcoming films announced well into 2020, the series most likely won’t hit the general public until after such films have been released.

With new standalone films like the Obi-Wan Kenobi film being announced, The Last Jedi about to hit theaters and Solo: A Star Wars Story wrapping production, the announcement of a brand new Star Wars trilogy just makes us Star Wars fans even more excited. But we are also hoping and praying that Disney won’t go overkill on the series and just run it dry, a very real problem that many of us Star Wars fans feel Disney might actually do. However with the ever successful Marvel films still making money and keeping fans happy (Thor: Ragnarok was the best Marvel film so far), Disney might actually know what they’re doing and may keep the lore and franchise of Star Wars fresh and alive.
