The fast-paced action of professional indoor soccer returns to the Family Arena when the St. Louis Ambush kick off their 2016-17 season this Saturday, November 19 when they host the Tacoma Stars at 7:05 p.m.
The Ambush are coming off an 8-3 loss to the Kansas City Comets in their season opener last Sunday, November 13. The Stars have a 2-1 record as of this writing, but face the Dallas Sidekicks Friday night, November 18, so they will invade the Family Arena with either a 2-2 or 3-1 record on Saturday.
The Ambush want to reverse their fortunes after starting the season with a loss and are looking for a win on home turf with the enthusiastic backing of the home crowd at the Family Arena.
Tacoma goalkeeper Danny Waltman and Head Coach and General Manager Darren Sawatzky garnered the MASL’s Goalkeeper of the Year and Coach of the Year awards, respectively, for the 2015-16 season.
Waltman is no stranger to St. Louis indoor soccer fans. He played against the St. Louis Steamers as a member of the Chicago Storm from 2004 to 2006. Danny competed against the current Ambush as a member of the Missouri Comets from 2013 to 2015. Waltman faced the Ambush as a member of the Stars last season and is back this season. Another familiar face is Tacoma forward Dan Antoniuk, who played in 17 games for the Ambush during the 2013-14 season.
Following Saturday’s match, the Ambush tangle with the Chicago Mustangs in a home-and-home series November 26 and 27. The Ambush host the Mustangs Saturday, November 26 at 7:05 p.m. at the Family Arena. The two teams then head to Hoffman Estates, Illinois the next day for a 3:05 p.m. duel at the Sears Centre Arena.
