Cardinals Call Up Piscotty; DFA Ty Kelly

The St. Louis Cardinals have purchased the contract of OF/1B Stephen Piscotty from Memphis.

The team optioned outfielder Tommy Pham to Memphis, and then Memphis infielder Ty Kelly (not Pete Kozma) was designated for assignment in order to make room for Piscotty on the team’s 40-man major league roster.

Matheny said that Piscotty will get some OF time early while Holliday is DH in Chicago but that he is an option at 1B too.

He will wear jersey number 55, last worn in 2013 by Jermaine Curtis.
