Miners Boost Offense, Add Earley

Marion, IL – The Southern Illinois Miners announce the the signing of outfielder Michael Earley, boosting their offense for 2015.

A native of Anderson, Indiana, Earley will be entering his sixth season of professional baseball. Originally drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 29th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, he ascended the ranks of the White Sox’s system, eventually reaching Triple-A Charlotte in 2013.

A veteran of over 400 games and over 1,700 professional at-bats, Early boasts a career batting average of .274. His best season came in 2012 at A-Advanced Winston-Salem, hitting .291 with 27 doubles, 13 home runs and 73 RBIs in 124 games. In 2013, he hit .275 with 16 doubles and four home runs in 66 games at Double-A Birmingham before his promotion to Triple-A. He spent the entire 2014 season at Birmingham as well, hitting .251 with 16 doubles and three homers in 94 games.

“We are very excited to add Michael to our club,” Miners manager Mike Pinto said. “He is an experienced, successful hitter at multiple levels who will fit into the heart of our order. He had a lot of options (this offseason), and we are glad he chose the Miners Family.”
