The St. Louis Ambush (1-4) are back in action when they host Detroit Waza Flo (3-4) for the first time at the Family Arena, this Saturday, December 13 at 7:35 p.m. A tribute to the 1994-95 Ambush team that captured the NPSL Championship will take place at halftime and fans will have the opportunity to get autographs beginning at 6:00 p.m. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a free 1994-95 Ambush collage poster, compliments of Mercy, the official medical provider of the St. Louis Ambush.

Detroit is led by Miki Djerisilo (8 goals, 3 assists), Victor Otieno (4 goals, 6 assists) and Cosea Decu (4 goals, 4 assists). On defense, Salvatore Fiore leads the team in blocks with 5. Two goalkeepers have played the majority of time for the Waza Flo. Vito Lonigro has appeared in four games and has compiled a .758 save percentage and 6.16 goals against average, while Matteo Zani has appeared in three matches, with a .699 save percentage and 7.33 goals against average.

Offensive leaders for the Ambush are Stefan St. Louis (2 goals, 4 assists) and Elvir Kafedzic (3 goals, 2 assists). Five other players have contributed four points, including the team’s leading scorer, Blake Ordell (4 goals). Ambush defender Chad Vandegriffe leads the league in blocks with 14. In goal, Greg Crook has compiled a 7.58 goals against average and .711 save
percentage.

Saturday’s contest gives two current Ambush players the opportunity to make a good showing against a former team. Stefan St. Louis got his professional indoor soccer start with Detroit during the 2011-12 season. Blake Ordell played two seasons with Detroit from 2008 to 2010. In the 2008-09 season, Ordell was the team leader in both goals and assists, with 14 of each.

The Ambush made a roster move this week, bringing back popular veteran midfielder Jeff DiMaria. Jeff has six seasons of professional indoor soccer experience. He played five seasons with the St. Louis Steamers between 2000 and 2006 and joined the Ambush last season, contributing six goals and five assists in 17 games played. “Jeff is the total package. He has experience, outstanding technical skills, a tremendous work ethic, and is a leader on and off the field,” said Ambush owner Andrew Haines.
