The Baltimore Blast defeated the St. Louis Ambush in a 12-6 contest Thursday night at the Family Arena.
Mike Lookingland led Baltimore’s offensive attack with two goals and two assists on the evening. The Blast took a 4-0 lead in the opening period with goals by Tony Donatelli and J.T. Noone. Lookingland got his first goal of the night to open the second quarter and give Baltimore a 6-0 lead. Mike Roach answered for St. Louis with an unassisted tally to close the gap to 6-2 going into halftime.
In what would be the goal of the evening, Ambush veteran Jeff DiMaria took a pass from Chad Vandegriffe and executed a bicycle kick with his back to the goal to make the score 6-4. Corey Adamson scored for St. Louis to tie the game before Lookingland got his second goal of the match on a restart to give the Blast an 8-6 lead going into the final stanza.
Goals by Diego Zuniga and Pat Healey in the fourth quarter closed the door on the Ambush and locked up the 12-6 Baltimore win.
The Ambush, presented by Simmons First National Bank, have two home games remaining in the 2013-14 season. The Milwaukee Wave return for their final visit of the 2013-14 season on Friday, February 21 at 7:35 p.m. On Thursday, February 27, the Ambush host the Missouri Comets and it will be Retro Night. Current Ambush players will wear throwback jerseys and a Reunion Game at halftime will feature stars from previous St. Louis Ambush, Storm and Steamers teams.
