The St. Louis Ambush, members of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL), have re-signed their mascot, Bushwhacker, to a one-year deal, the team announced today. Per league and team policies, no further details were disclosed.
Bushwhacker has been the official mascot of the current Ambush franchise since the team’s inception in 2013. A previous version of Bushwhacker also served as mascot for the original St. Louis Ambush club, which played in the old NPSL from 1992 to 2000.
Bushwhacker hinted that the upcoming 2020-21 season may be his last saying, “You know I’m getting to the point where retirement may be on the horizon for me. I’m excited to have the opportunity to come back for another season and say goodbye to all my fans.”
In announcing the signing, Ambush General Manager Jeff Locker said, “Bushwhacker has been an outstanding representative of our organization and we’re please to have him return for one more season. If it is his last, it will give our fans one more opportunity to say thank you and give him a proper send-off.”
Ambush Head Coach Hewerton said, “Although Bushwhacker isn’t a player, he helps our team by spreading enthusiasm and positivity during our home games.”
The Ambush anticipate kicking off their 2020-21 season this fall, pending the outcome of the current pandemic. Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Ambush office at 636-477-6363.
