Ryu had his best season in 2019, going 14-5 with a 2.32 ERA and 4.8 fWAR in 29 starts for the Dodgers.

He started the All-Star Game for the National League, finished second in National League Cy Young Award voting and won the National League’s ERA crown.

He would be a cheaper option than Madison Bumgarner, who the Cardinals have also been connected to, who the Cardinals would have to pay more, give a longer contract, give up their second highest draft pick next year, and lose $500,000 in international signing bonus pool money.

The Dodgers, Blue Jays, and Twins also have shown interest in Ryu.

Does he look good in Cardinal red?
