St. Louis County Library Offers Cardinals-themed Library Card for National Library Card Sign-up Month

St. Louis County Library and the St. Louis Cardinals are teaming up to offer a limited edition Cardinals library card in September for National Library Card Sign-up Month. Individuals without a library card are encouraged to sign up in September and take home the new Cardinals library card.

Individuals can sign up for a library card online or in person at any St Louis County Library location. A photo ID and proof of current address will be required. Library cards are free to those who live in or pay property taxes to St. Louis County, St. Louis City or St. Charles County. Learn more at www.slcl.org/library-cards.

There are many reasons to sign up for a St. Louis County Library card. Using your library card can save hundreds of dollars a year. A library card gives you access to free streaming content, books, DVDs, video games, online courses and so much more. Plus, you can check out interesting items with your library card including telescopes, musical instruments, or binoculars.

The new St. Louis Cardinals library card is the latest collaboration between two beloved organizations. The Cardinals have been a strong community partner, supporting the Library’s Summer Reading Club and Born to Read programs.

“We are happy to partner with the St. Louis County Library to support literacy efforts in our community,” said Michael Hall, Vice President of Community Relations & Executive Director of Cardinals Care. “We are always looking for creative ways to support kids in our community and this opportunity is one that fans of all ages can enjoy.”

SLCL Director Kristen Sorth said, “We are thrilled to join the Cardinals in promoting literacy in our region. National Library Card Sign-up month is a perfect opportunity for people to get a library card and show their Cardinals’ pride at the same time.”

St. Louis County Library is the busiest public library in Missouri. In 2018, the library circulated over 13.8 million items and over 5 million people visited a SLCL branch or bookmobile. SLCL offers a wide variety of innovative programming including story time for children on the autism spectrum, Career Online High School for adults seeking to earn a high school diploma, and coding workshops for kids and teens.
