The Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) professional tackle football franchise hosts Derby City Dynamite Saturday at St. Mary’s High School (4701 South Grand). Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

St. Louis (2-0) kept their record unblemished with a 28-8 victory over KC Titans two Saturdays ago at St. Mary’s. Trailing 8-7 early in the second quarter, the SLAM snared three touchdowns and held their cross-state rivals scoreless en route to the triumph.

“Being down (early) was not normal for us but we know how to dig deep,” said SLAM wide receiver Danielle Price afterwards. “Our defense can just beat anybody no matter where they’re at on the field. ”(KC) had that big momentum swing and we shut it down. We’re good at that.”

Price had a touchdown catch and run in the win over the Titans and currently ties the team in touchdowns with a pair alongside running backs Taylor Hay and Candice Watkins. Through two games, quarterback Jamie Gaal has 25 completions for 268 yards and three touchdowns.

The offensive line is anchored by Caitlin Erickson, Tammie Moore, Kim Kinsella, Marion Ball and a host of others.

Meanwhile, the SLAM’s defense continues to execute at high levels. Paced by Raven Williams, Tiffany Pugh, Keyonna Smith, Pamela Green, Chelsea Vinson, Brooklyn Devitt, Kaylee Neutzling and a host of others, the unit has only surrendered one touchdown from scrimmage this season.

Louisville, Kentucky’s Derby City Dynamite (2-1) has also been propelled by a lethal offense early this season. Last Saturday’s 54-0 win over the Cincinnati Sizzle marked the second game this season where they scored over 50 points.

Quarterback Felicia Gomez paces the offense while running backs Crystal White and Jamesha Reed each have three touchdowns through three games.

Tickets at the door are $15. For more info on the SLAM, go to their official website.
