Left-handed pitcher Anthony Arias was the first overall section of the 2022 Frontier League draft, chosen by the Gateway Grizzlies. Overall, 40 players were drafted by the league’s 16 teams.
Anthony Arias played briefly for the Evansville Otters during the 2019 and 2021 seasons, appearing in 12 games (seven starts). Arias compiled a 2-3 record between the two seasons, striking out 45 batters in 36.2 innings of work.
Arias first came to the Frontier League out of Campbellsville University, where he played his junior and senior years after spending two years at Fresno State. Arias was selected to the 2018 NCCAA World Series All-Tournament Team while at Campbellsville, and followed up by being named a NCCAA First Team All-American in 2019. He was twice named Pitcher of the Week for the Mountain West Conference while at Fresno State. Overall, he recorded 208 strikeouts in 191 innings of collegiate action.
