At the age of 42, Martin Brodeur has again decided to hang up the skates. But he isn’t done with hockey just yet.
Brodeur announced he will accept an executive position offered by St. Louis after taking a lengthy break to figure out his future.
The 42-year-old joined the Blues in early December and worked his way on to the team due to injuries to Brian Elliott and Jake Allen.
While playing for the Blues, Brodeur played in seven games and posted a 3-3-0 record with a .899 save percentage and goals against average of 2.87.
Since Elliott and Allen have returned to the ice, Brodeur has not played since the Blues’ loss on Jan. 2 to Anaheim. Brodeur fell to the No. 3 spot on the goalie depth chart in St. Louis, and he has spent the past weeks deciding on his future with the team.
Brodeur is the NHL’s all time leader in wins 691 career wins and has a goals against average of 2.24 over the course of his NHL career. Before joining the Blues, Brodeur played 21 seasons for the New Jersey Devils.
