Should the Blues Trade Allen?

by Alex Thomas

It is no secret that Jake Allen has confidence issues. The Blues have trouble playing in front have Jake Allen, but why? Allen has had his troubles giving up the easy goals and maybe that is the reason the team struggles to play for him.

Allen has had trouble in back to back years in the same months. Last year Allen turned his season around and gave the Blues a chance to make the playoffs and even won the first round against Minnesota.

Ville Husso is knocking on the door for his chance to play in the NHL and this is the reason I raise the question should the Blues trade Allen? He has had a very good year with the San Antonio Rampage. In 30 games Husso has 13 wins and 9 losses with a GAA of 2.3 and a save percent of .930.

Would you trade Jake Allen in the offseason and re-sign Carter Hutton? Jake Allen has shown signs of being the number one goalie but his inconsistency is a problem. Carter Hutton deserves a new contract, but why keep Husso in the AHL? The Blues have done this before (Ben Bishop) and they picked Allen over Bishop and traded him to the Ottawa Senators for a 2nd round pick.

Armstrong has been a little skeptical ever since the Ryan Miller trade, it wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t give up on Allen. I think you could get a decent return for Allen But like I said they gave up on Bishop and he took Tampa Bay to the Stanley cup finals.
