Redbirds Lose Series Finale to New Orleans, 8-3

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Breyvic Valera and Rangel Ravelo each hit their seventh home runs of the season Tuesday night at AutoZone Park, but the New Orleans Baby Cakes (Marlins) came away with an 8-3 win in the series finale.

The division-champion Redbirds, who became the winningest team in franchise history with their 84th win of the season on Monday, are now 84-46 on the year and 38-15 in their last 53 games.

Valera homered in the first inning, and Ravelo went deep in the eighth for two of Memphis’ three runs on the night. Alberto Rosario was 2-for-4 with a run scored for Memphis.

Kevin Herget took the loss, allowing six earned runs in 4.1 innings. Josh ZeidMiguel Socolovich, and Mark Montgomery finished the game for the Redbirds.

Memphis now starts a stretch of eight-straight games against the Iowa Cubs (Cubs), with the first four being played in Iowa ThursdaySunday and the next four in Memphis Monday-next Thursday.
