St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has tendered qualifying offers to five players: Jaden Schwartz, Vladimir Sobotka, Sergey Andronov, David Shields and Sebastian Wannstrom. The offers enable the club to retain each player’s rights when free agency opens on July 1.
Schwartz, 22, dressed in 80 games for the Blues last season, ranking fourth on the club with 56 points and third with 25 goals. In addition, the 5-foot-10, 187-pound forward added three points (one goal, two assists) in six postseason games.
Sobotka, 26, dressed in 61 games for the Blues last season, setting career-highs in points (33), goals (9), assists (24), penalty minutes (72) and plus/minus (+14). In addition, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound forward added three assists in six postseason games.
Andronov, 24, dressed in 53 games with the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate Chicago Wolves last season, recording 26 points (13 goals, 13 assists) and 24 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 208-pound forward served two penalty minutes in five postseason games.
Shields, 23, dressed in 55 games with the Chicago Wolves last season, tallying 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) and 21 penalty minutes.
Wannstrom, 23, spent the majority of last season with the Chicago Wolves, posting 10 points (five goals, five assists) and 20 penalty minutes in 37 regular season games, as well as three points (one goal, two assists) and six penalty minutes in six postseason games. In addition, the 6-foot-2, 198-pound forward tallied five points (three goals, two assists) in four games with the Blues’ East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) affiliate, Kalamazoo Wings.
