SCDC’s Pack in Black, currently ranked #86 internationally by the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), faces #91 Twin City Roller Girls at Lamborghini Gold Coast Athletic Centre (49 Lawrence St., St. Charles, MO). The derby event’s twin-bill, which also features a mash-up involving the St. Chux Hells Belles, begins at 6 p.m. with the A-team marquee match-up.

For the St. Charles-based faction, they look to gain positive traction against a squad that they have already scored a victory over this season. SCDC netted a 203-177 triumph over the Champaign/Urbana Illinois-based franchise at its self-hosted “Skate to Thrill” invitational in late-March. A 32-0 late-game rally resulted in the W.

“I remember Twin containing just the right amount of intensity,” reflected St. Chux captain Sha’Killa of the nail biter. “They were challenging enough to make us work for every point.”

In the 27-point topper, jammer Jedi Knight-N-Gale scored 72 points followed by Ankle BiteHer’s 62 and Calamity Cat’s 40. All three will be in the mix this weekend alongside Annieville Horror in the rotation.

Blocking will be paced by the aforementioned Sha’Killa as well as Pixie Dust-Ruction, Slaughterhaus, Big Red, Blue Bear, Judy Boom, #smashtag, Bad Mutha T., Rockie Who and Dani Disaster.

Even with a prior duke in hand, the Pack In Black knows that they can’t take TCDG lightly Saturday night and must be proactive in their approach.

“The mindset heading into the rematch is to explore a different element of derby SCDC isn’t as used to,” coyly said Sha’Killa. “We plan on challenging our new pack dynamics in effort to creating a greater challenge to future opponents.”

For Twin City, jamming is paced by Houchebag, who scored 55 points in March’s meeting between the pair, alongside Mitchell Mayhem while blocking is anchored by Tank, Jamie Lee Cutthroat and Regina S.P.E.C.T.R.E.

SCDC aims on snatching its second duke over the Illinoisans this Saturday and Sha’Killa would love to see a packed house cheer her hard-working league for support.

“With every bout it truly is all about the fans,” the captain said. “Without them, the thrill of derby loses value, personally speaking. You never know who you inspire when you leave your heart on the track.”
