Third Period Lifts Thunder Past Chill

by Press Release

The Chill took a 2-1 lead late in the second period on the sixth goal from Martin Hlinka but the Thunder scored two in the final period to take a 3-2 win in the first of back-to-back games at INTRUST Bank Arena Saturday night.

St. Charles (7-18-4) took a 1-0 lead midway through the first period on Anthony Perdicaro’s seventh goal of the season on a one-timer set up by Kyle O’Kane and Andrew Conboy.  The Chill defense held Wichita (10-14-4) to just six shots in the opening period but the Thunder tied the game in the middle of the second.  Just over five minutes later recently acquired John Snowden’s shot deflected off Hlinka to give the Chill a 2-1 lead late in the second with a power play goal.

Nick McParland punched in a rebound to tie the game 2-2 at the 5:27 mark of the third period and two minutes later Matt Robinson netted his 14th to give the Thunder their first lead of the night at 3-2.  Wichita would withstand a late Chill onslaught to hang on to the win by the final of 3-2.  The teams will meet again on Sunday in Wichita with the puck drop set for 5:05 CT.

The Chill return to The Family Arena for a New Year’s Eve game with the puck drop set for 6:05 this Tuesday.  Call the Chill office at 636.724.SHOT to take advantage of Pepsi Family 4-Packs for just $60 that include four platinum level tickets, four hotdogs, four cans of Pepsi (or diet), and four bags of chips.  The Chill will be giving away a flat screen TV, hundreds of t-shirts, and the game will feature a postgame skate with the Chill players and coaches.  For group ticket packages, sponsorships, and more information on the St. Charles Chill visit StCharlesChill.com.
