St Louis CITY2 Signs Lucas Demitra and Matteo Kidd

St Louis CITY2 signs forward Lucas Demitra and midfielder Matteo Kidd to MLS NEXT Pro contracts. Kidd is signed through the end of the 2024 season while Demitra is signed through the end of the 2025 season. Demitra joins CITY2 from Slovakian club, AS Trencin and Kidd joins from Chicago Fire FC II.

“We are adding two exciting players for the second half of the season,” said CITY2 Head Coach Bobby Murphy. “We expect them to contribute right away and can’t wait to get them in the building. Lucas and Matteo are both local products that are from the St. Louis area and we are always proud to give hometown kids an opportunity.”

Demitra was born in St. Louis and is the son of St. Louis Blues hall of fame player, Pavol Demitra. He began his career in the youth system at AS Trencin in 2010 and progressed to their first team in 2020. Last year, Demitra was on loan at FC ViOn, where he made eight appearances. In his career, Demitra has played in 45 games, scoring four goals, and earning two assists. Demitra has made appearances for Slovakia’s Youth National Teams at various levels starting with the U-15s and most recently with the U-21s.

Kidd grew up in St. Louis and attended Saint Louis University from 2017 to 2020 where he made 45 appearances and scored two goals for the Billikens. In 2021, Kidd began his professional career at Chicago House AC in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) making 18 appearances in the team’s inaugural season. Kidd then signed with Chicago Fire FC II for the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season and amassed 34 games during his time with the club.
