All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is primed for their inaugural pay-per-view event held in St. Louis, “AEW Dynasty,” set for Sunday at Chaifetz Arena.
The 12-match card begins at 6 pm and as of this writing close to 6,000 tickets have been sold. Fans can purchase remaining seats through Ticketmaster LINK or can watch the streaming event through various online outlets.
After presenting their last event in St. Louis, an “AEW Collision” live television cablecast in January, Sunday’s pay-per-view will immediately contain the five-year-old professional wrestling promotion’s largest attendance at Chaifetz to date.
“I’m really excited about this pay-per-view,” said AEW President/CEO Tony Khan at a media briefing Thursday morning. “I think ‘Dynasty’ is going to be an amazing show. St. Louis is an amazing wrestling town with a great history. Hopefully, we can do something to continue that great tradition of pro wrestling in the Gateway City.”
Eight championship matches will be featured on Sunday, including top-tiered tussles for men’s, women’s and tag-team titles.
Here is a look at the card for “AEW Dynasty” (Order of line-up to be determined)
MAIN CARD
AEW World Championship: Samoa Joe (C) vs. Swerve Strickland – Since winning AEW’s top prize in December, Samoa Joe has successfully defended his title three times and has amassed an overall 6-0 record in 2024. Strickland earned his title shot by defeating Konosuke Takeshita in a #1 contenders’ match in late-March and seeks his first-ever world championship in his 15-year career. Intensity is high as both have brawled numerous times in-and-out of ring leading up to Sunday’s showdown.
AEW Women’s World Championship: “Timeless” Toni Storm (C) vs. Thunder Rosa – Storm snared her title in November and has successfully defended it three times. She has a singles record of 5-0 this year. Rosa previously held the AEW Women’s Championship during 2022 and defeated Storm during a June 2022 title defense. Both have been savagely at odds in the most-recent build-up and a coin-flip in projected.
AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament Final (Ladder Match): The Young Bucks vs. FTR – Both teams, long-time rivals and former belt holders, aim to claim gold in the finale after a multi-week tournament for the vacant titles. A ladder match stipulation is added for extra intrigue. Both teams seek their third AEW Tag Team Championship. Last time the pair met head-to-head at “AEW ALL IN” at Wembley Stadium in London, England last August, FTR claimed the duke.
AEW Continental Championship: Kazuchika Okada (C) vs. PAC – Okada, one of AEW’s most-recent signings, immediately made a splash by winning the Continental title over then-champion Eddie Kingston last month. Sunday will be his first title defense against PAC, a former AEW All-Atlantic and World Trios Champion. The pair have faced each other during a pair of trios matches over the past few weeks, but this will be the first-ever meeting between both.
AEW TBS Championship (House Rules): Julia Hart (C) vs. Willow Nightingale – The 22-year-old Hart won her first-ever championship last November and under the promoted “House Rules” stipulation, has successfully defended her title five times, so that should give her an edge. The popular Nightingale earned Sunday’s title tussle by winning a four-way #1 contenders’ battle in late-March. How “House Rules” plays out is open to interpretation.
AEW International Championship: Roderick Strong (C) vs. Kyle O’Reilly – Long-time friends and rivals is the narrative heading into this match-up. Strong claimed his title in March and has posted three solo wins since. Meanwhile, O’Reilly returned to AEW action in mid-March after a 20-month setback due to injury/illness. Both were former tag team partners in prior promotions, so both knows how each other operates. Due to their equal familiarity and skill-set, this could be a sleeper match that exceeds.
FTW Championship (FTW Rules): Hook (C) vs. Chris Jericho: The current 24-year-old-champion claimed the FTW title, a belt initiated by his father Taz for Extreme Championship Wrestling in 1998, for a second time last August. Both Hook and Jericho, AEW’s inaugural World Champion in 2019, have been at odds recently and this match was signed Wednesday night by Khan following an exchange that saw Jericho shove the champions’ aforementioned father during an interview segment on Wednesday’s “AEW Dynamite” program.
Will Ospreay vs. Bryan Danielson – Even with all the title matches featured Sunday, the first-time “dream match” between the pair is arguably the most anticipated. Since signing full-time with AEW earlier this year, Ospreay has churned five impressive straight wins. Meanwhile Danielson, an international superstar, looks to push his legacy portfolio.
Trios Match: Adam Copeland, Eddie Kingston & Mark Briscoe vs. House of Black – The six -man tag features Copeland, the current AEW TNT champion, Briscoe, the current Ring of Honor champion, and Kingston, a former ROH and AEW Continental champion, in a donnybrook against the House of Black (Brody King, Buddy Matthews & Malakai Black), who were former AEW World Trios Champions for a five-month stretch last year.
PRE-PPV UNDERCARD
Winners Take All Match for the AEW World Trios Championship and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship: The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn (C–AEW) vs. Bullet Club Gold (Jay White) and The Gunns (C–ROH): Khan stated Thursday that the winner of this match by the respective trios reps from AEW and ROH would collectively merge both titles, so it’s anyone’s game. Both factions were formally founded as an alliance, but that dissipated over the last few weeks.
Orange Cassidy and Katsuyori Shibata vs. Shane Taylor and Lee Moriarty: Tag-Team match-up has the tandem of the popular Cassidy and New Japan Pro Wrestling ‘s Shibata facing the founder of “Shane Taylor Promotions” alongside one of his most-recent recruits.
Trent Baretta vs. Matt Sydal: Pre-PPV match will have Baretta, who recently turned heel and broke away from his “Best Friends” alliance, facing against home-town product Sydal, who locally started his career with Gateway Championship Wrestling in 2000.
