The NTT IndyCar Series revealed its 2024 season schedule on Monday, which announced the date of a return stop to World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.
The eighth installment of the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 takes place at the Madison, Illinois 1.25-mile oval on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Although the start time of the race has yet to be determined, the governing body did announce that the showcase will be held at night under the lights.
One major change in the series’ 17-race docket next year is the subtraction of the annual event held at Texas Motor Speedway, which hosted IndyCar features since 1997. According to officials at the Lone Star-state superspeedway, neither the facility nor series’ brass could agree on a 2024 date.
In its absence, the open-wheeled sport returns to the Milwaukee Mile for the first time since 2015. A double-header event is slotted for Labor Day weekend.
The flavor overall next season is heavily Midwestern as 11 out of 17 races will be held within the region. Alongside Gateway and Milwaukee, the series makes stops at Indianapolis, Detroit, Nashville, Iowa, Mid-Ohio and Wisconsin’s Road America.
“The upward trajectory of the NTT IndyCar Series is reflected through the 2024 schedule,” said Penske Entertainment Corp. President and CEO Mark Miles. “With stops at premier and global entertainment districts, classic American road courses and thrilling, high-speed ovals, the 2024 season will be exhilarating and highly competitive from beginning to end.”
Next year’s series begins with the Streets of St. Petersburg race on Sunday. March 10, 2024 and concludes with the Streets of Nashville race on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
Fans that purchased advance tickets to last month’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at Gateway will be able to renew their seats later this year. Support races at the track will be revealed as the event approaches.
