The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) announced details about their upcoming return to St. Louis, featuring a two-night event to be held at the historic Khorassan Ballroom in the Central West End.
“NWA 75” will be presented at the Royal Sonesta at Chase Park Plaza on Saturday & Sunday, August 26 & 27. The opening bell each night rings at 6 p.m.
Individual event tickets and two-night bundle packages can be purchased at nwatix.com starting July 19.
This marks the third consecutive year that the professional wrestling organization – founded in 1948 – has held matches at the prior venue of the “Wrestling at the Chase” television program seen on KPLR-TV from 1959 to 1983.
Numerous championship matches and ongoing grudges will be showcased on both nights from the company currently owned by Smashing Pumpkins’ front man Billy Corgan.
“The NWA is living history and the Chase is living history,” Corgan told Arch City Media in July 2021 prior to their initial return. “When you put those two things together, it’s like a brush fire.”
The blaze certainly burned from their past two St. Louis efforts. The August 2021 comeback recorded back-to-back nightly sellouts and the 2022 edition yielded similar results. At the showcase event last year, Corgan announced that the NWA would celebrate their 75th anniversary at the venue in August 2023 due to the community’s support and ongoing success of the venture.
The cards for each respective night are starting to build for the live event, which will be streamed for purchase on FITE TV.
The main attraction on the first night (August 26) showcases current NWA World Women’s Champion Kamille – who has held the title for over two years – defending against top contender Natalia Markova.
The night also features a NWA Tag Team Title showdown between current champions La Rebelión against Blunt Force as well as a 10-woman gauntlet match where the winner receives a Women’s title match the following night.
The main event on Sunday, August 27 finds current NWA World Heavyweight Champion Tyrus defending his “10 Pounds of Gold” against top-contender EC3 as well as a NWA World Tag Team Championship match and the aforementioned NWA World Women’s title tilt.
Others scheduled to appear over the weekend include NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Kerry Morton, NWA Television Champions Thom Latimer and Kenzie Paige, NWA United States Tag Team Champions Country Gentlemen, NWA Women’s Tag Team Champions M95 and former NWA Champion Matt Cardona.
The full line-up for both nights will be revealed over the next few weeks.
