Saint Louis’ Yuri Collins will be presented the Carl O. Bauer Award on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Jack Buck Sports Awards Banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club.
Established in 1978, the Bauer Award is presented annually to the top amateur sports figure in the St. Louis area. Collins will be introduced by Billikens head coach Travis Ford.
Collins is the NCAA leader in assists (111) and assists per game (11.1). The fourth-year player was named to the 2023 Bob Cousy Award Watch List. Sponsored by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, the Cousy Award recognizes the top point guard in men’s NCAA Division I basketball. Collins led the nation in assists and assists per game last year as well.
Collins owns every assist record at Saint Louis, including single-game (20 vs. Tennessee State on Nov. 30), season (267 in 2021-22) and career (665 and counting). His 665 career assists are second among all active player in NCAA Division I despite playing one less season than everyone else in the top five.
Collins is the 19th Saint Louis University representative to receive the Carl O. Bauer Award, which is named in honor of the MAC’s former athletic director who brought innovation and inspiration to the Club during his 45 years of service. The banquet can be heard on KMOX radio beginning at 8 p.m. on Dec. 7.
