Saint Louis senior goalkeeper Carlos Tofern stopped three Dayton shots in the penalty-kick shootout to help the top-seeded Billikens advance past six seed Dayton in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Soccer Championship Wednesday at Hermann Stadium.

SLU (11-4-2) advances to face No. 4-seed Loyola Chicago in the A-10 Championship title match on Sunday at noon at Hermann Stadium. Loyola Chicago topped No. 2 Duquesne tonight in Pittsburgh to advance to the final.

In regulation, Dayton’s Manny Day scored in the 18th minute to give Dayton a 1-0 advantage, a lead it took into halftime.

The Billikens tied the score in the 76th minute when CJ Coppola found the end of a Kevin Komodi service. It was Coppola’s sixth goal of the year.

The teams played two 10-minute overtime session and there was still no winner, so the advancing team was decided in a PK shootout. Komodi, Lane Warrington and Grady Easton all converted their chances, and Tofern did the rest on the other end to help SLU advance to the A-10 final for a second consecutive year.
