Following a one-hour rain delay, the Memphis Redbirds clinched a series split in the finale of a six-game series to the Durham Bulls on Sunday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park by a final score of 5-1.

Left fielder Scott Hurst dominated Sunday night’s game with a 4-for-5, two double, two RBI effort to help Memphis secure a series split at Durham. The outfielder also added a tremendous diving catch in the outfield and a stolen base to his mantle. Hurst raised his batting average 20 points on the night, from .246 to .266 thanks to his four hits.

Starting pitcher Aaron Brooks had his best outing as a Memphis Redbirds. The right-handed pitcher tossed 6.0 innings of shutout baseball, allowed five hits, walked one and struck out a season-high nine batters. Brooks (4-4) earned the win in what was his tenth start at Triple-A this season.

Designated hitter Alec Burleson also added yet another multi-RBI night. The left-handed hitter raised his total to 64 RBIs on the season with a groundout and double in a 1-for-4 performance. Second baseman Evan Mendoza extended his team lead in walks, drawing a pair of free passes after falling behind with two strikes in the count. His two walks give the right-handed hitter 39 on the season, a career high.

The Memphis Redbirds (46-38) head to Nashville, Tennessee after an off day on Monday to take on the International League West leading Nashville Sounds in a six-game series leading up to the All-Star Break.
